Increasing Educator Diversity is a collaboration between the CREC Resource Group and Connecticut school districts, who know it is integral to increase the numbers of African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, and Asian American teachers and administrators in the state's public schools. Expert Solutions services include, but are not limited to, assisting schools in attracting, recruiting, hiring, and retain a diverse teaching and administrative personnel that more closely represents the student population's diversity.

As a member of the RESC Alliance, and in partnership with the Connecticut State Department of Education, CREC helps to lead statewide efforts to grow and sustain a culturally, racially, ethnically and linguistically diverse educator workforce.

Professional Learning

CREC Resource Group facilitates professional learning series for district administrators and/or hiring coordinators in schools and districts throughout the state. In collaboration with human resources and diversity, equity & inclusion experts, the RESC Alliance convenes a consortium of school and district representatives to discuss and learn about best practices in relation to recruiting and retaining educators of color. The professional learning series for consortium members aligns to the CSDE's guidance document "Creating a District Plan to Increase the Racial, Ethnic and Linguistic Diversity of Your Educator Workforce: A Guidebook for Hiring and Selection."

Grant Programs

CREC Resource Group administers a grant program for districts to support and sustain efforts to diversify the educator workforce in their schools. The RESC Alliance has provided funding to support a variety of district-led initiatives, including DEI professional learning for school staff to support climates that are more welcoming for educators of various backgrounds; the development of hiring and recruitment plans with the specific goal of diversifying the educator workforce; supplementing tuition costs for district employees that might be seeking certification in a state ARC or residency program.
