CREC Two Rivers Magnet High School to Merge with CREC Academy of Science and Innovation

Due to the current State of Connecticut fiscal crisis, the State Department of Education and the State Department of Administrative Services have decided to cancel construction of the new CREC Two Rivers Magnet High School that was planned in Bloomfield. As a result, the Two Rivers High School facility in Hartford will close with all existing students merging with our CREC Academy of Science and Innovation in New Britain. The consolidation will be effective for the 2017-2018 school year. CREC Two Rivers High School Principal Robert McCain will assume the role as principal at our Academy of Science and Innovation.  He will begin this transition on March 13, 2017.

“Although consolidating the two schools is not the road we envisioned, it is the best way of providing our students with the quality of education that they deserve,” said CREC Executive Director Greg J. Florio. “Both Two Rivers Magnet High School and Academy of Science and Innovation have strong programs in science, technology, engineering and math; and our students will continue to benefit from a rigorous and dynamic academic curriculum.”

Two Rivers High School families can find information about school transfers by contacting schoolchoice@crec.org or by visiting, http://crecschools.org/transfer-request.
