Transportation
Shuttle buses will be available to and from the Connecticut Convention Center for this year’s event. If you’re unable to accommodate the bus pickup time listed below, you can either park at CREC Central and walk over to the Convention Center, or drive directly to the Convention Center on your own. There will be space in the parking garage to park your own car at a discounted rate ($7.00). A discount parking pass will be issued at registration for those who decide to park in the garage.
Just like last year, there will only be one departure time per pick-up location this year. Buses will leave each location promptly at 7 a.m. to head to the Convention Center. After the program, buses will leave the Convention Center at 12 p.m. to return to each location.
Bus Locations:
- Discovery Academy – 176 Cumberland Avenue, Wethersfield
- Academy of Aerospace and Engineering – 1101 Kennedy Road, Windsor
- Two Rivers Magnet Middle School – 337 East River Drive, East Hartford
- Reggio Magnet School of the Arts – 59 Waterville Road, Avon
- The Learning Corridor – Hartford
CREC Central and 34 Sequassen Street Vans (available for individuals who are not physically able to walk):
- Two shuttle vans will be provided for individuals who are not physically able to walk to the Convention Center. One van will leave from the front parking lot at CREC Central at 7 a.m. and an additional van will leave from 34 Sequassen Street at 7 a.m.
- It is roughly a 6-8 minute (0.4 miles) walk to the CT Convention Center from CREC Central, so this is a great form of exercise!
PLEASE NOTE: Buses will leave each location promptly at 7 a.m. Event registration ends at 8:30 a.m., so all employees are asked to please plan accordingly. The afternoon buses will leave the Convention Center at 12 p.m.

CREC Cares Fund
For staff, CREC isn't just a workplace, it's a community. And in times of crisis, a community offers support. The CREC Cares Fund is a unique employee directed giving program that is intended to support the emergency and immediate needs of CREC community members, including staff, teachers, students, and families who have experienced a catastrophic incident that has caused serious economic hardship.
Each year, employee contributions towards this fund will be used to provide aid to students, families, and other CREC community members who have experienced an emergency, disaster, or some other personal or financial hardship.
Situations that may qualify for assistance include:
- Accident or illness
- Death of an immediate family member
- Natural disaster (flood, tornado, etc.)
- Critical incidents (fire, theft, etc.) that cause a dramatic disruption in income or loss of primary residence
To contribute towards this fund, employees can direct their donations throughout the year via the CREC Foundation. While the focus is on CREC employees helping each other, the fund will accept donations from sources outside of CREC as well.
