About Connections Academy
Connections Academy offers students in grades 9-12 extra structure, support, and creative incentives to stay engaged in the learning environment and to promote positive goals for the future. These students may have a history of not being successful in multiple alternative placements, a history of truancy, or may be at high risk for dropping out. The students in Connections Academy may be significantly behind in credits earned and would benefit from a significant emphasis on vocational training and experience.
The CREC John J. Allison, Jr. Polaris Center educational programs serve children and adolescents who struggle with learning disabilities and emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric issues. Polaris provides comprehensive treatment, offering quality educational and clinical programming for adolescents and their families throughout Connecticut. All Polaris programming is offered from a trauma-informed perspective as adapted from the Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC) framework. A variety of academies within Polaris have been developed to focus on the unique academic and clinical needs of our students, with a strict adherence to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
