Student Teaching / Internship Opportunities

The Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) recognizes teachers, school social workers, school psychologists and other human service professionals in training need rich educational experiences to fully develop their skills. Therefore, to assist in the development of these pre-professionals, CREC encourages its magnet schools and student services programs to utilize these trainees when it is appropriate and safe.

Intern and Student Teacher placement requests are accepted from partnering universities, colleges and alternative certification program. Students in pursuit of an internship or student teacher placement are to contact their university, college or alternative certification program. The university, college or alternative certification program will submit the student teacher's request for placement and will be notified of students' eligibility.

All Intern/ Student Teacher Requests must be processed through the CREC Institute of Teaching and Learning. Building administrators and/or classroom teachers are not authorized to set up a student teacher placement.
Administrator (092) Internship Requests are subject to approval by the Superintendent.
All Interns and Student Teachers must complete an application in the CREC AppliTrack system and must be cleared through a criminal history check before they begin their assignment at CREC.

The length of time and specifics of placement are determined by the requesting university. All student teachers obtaining a placement must adhere to the CREC Intern and Student Teacher Placement Guidelines. College students requesting classroom observations are required to submit an on-line application but are not required to be fingerprinted.
